Japanese Government Scholarship

1. Procedures for Receiving Scholarships

Those who are granted Monbukagakusho Scholarship need to confirm reception of monthly stipend by signing the sheet located in the Center for International Exchange by the 6th of every month. Monthly stipend is deposited to the designated bank account around the 25th of every month. If the student signs later than the deadline, deposit will be delayed, and if the student fails to sign, stipend cannot be provided. For changes of account information or any other inquiries please contact the Center for International Exchange.

2. Extension of Japanese Government Scholarship

Application for extension of scholarship tenure is accepted around Ontober- November (for the students whose tenure expire in March) or around April (who the students whose tenure expire in September) each year. Please contact respective faculty office or the Center for International Exchange for further information. It should be remembered that your application might be rejected, especially when you request to extend the tenure beyond the period of the course.

Honors Scholarship

The Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) offers Honors Scholarship to undergraduate and graduate international students with the resident status of "college student". Applications for Honors Scholarships are accepted at your faculty office.
Application period is every April. Please contact respective faculty office or the Office of International Exchange for further information.

Scholarships from Private Organization

About 20 to 30 private organizations offer scholarships to self-supporting international students. Application periods vary for each scholarship. You can obtain application forms at the Office of International Exchange. Please be sure to apply before the deadline. (Please see the list in Japanese.)

UNU Financial Assistance Programme for Students from Developing Countries Studying in Japan (FAP)

"UNU Financial Assistance Programme for Students from Developing Countries Studying in Japan" (FAP) is implemented by the United Nations University with financial assistance of the Government of Japan and Japan Bank for International Cooperation, which provides reimbursable funds to self-financed students from developing countries studying at junior colleges and universities in Japan.

Application period is in April and October. Application forms are available in faculty offices and the Office of International Exchange.
