Student ID cards are issued to regular student, while ID cards are issued to research students at faculty offices. Your student ID certifies not only of your status as a student of Saitama University but also serves as a prescribed certificate for use is case of JR (Japan Railway) and other private railways. You must bring with you when you come to the University as well as during your travel. If you are asked to show your student ID by our faculty member, staff or staff of a railway company, you must be always ready to show it to them. Your student ID serves also as a certificate of commuting to Saitama University so that you do not need to prepare other form of certificate of commuting for purchasing your communication pass ticket.
When you changed your address and commuting route to the University, you must report to your faculty office at once and get approval seal on your ID. Should you damage or lose your ID you must apply for a new one at the office. At the time of graduation, withdrawing from University or if the effective period of ID expires, please return it at once. Other detailed regulations are written on the back of your ID, so please read them carefully.
Enrollment certificates, required when applying for scholarships, the extension of a period of stay. etc., can be obtained at the automatic machines. Research Students can be obtain them at faculty offices.
School transcripts, required when applying for scholarships, reporting academic records, etc., can be obtained at your faculty office.
Since it may take a few days to be issued, you must apply in advance.
JR railways offer a special 20% discount for students traveling over 101Km. (only for regular students).
Certificates of special discount tickets can be obtained at the automatic machines. Up to ten certificates (two at a time) can be issued per academic year (April to March).
Regular students who have completed undergraduate and graduate courses are awarded a diploma of graduation and a statement of degree.
Research students, who are finishing their periods of study are issued a certificate of course completion on request. Inquiries should be made to your faculty office.
The certificate of Japanese Government Scholarship Students, required for the extension of a student visa, the invitation of students' families, etc., can be applied for at the Office of International Exchange.
You may apply for a certificate of Honors Scholarship, required for the extension of a period of stay etc., at the office of International Exchange.
